Flora and Fauna

The Samlout Multiple Use Area (MUA) in Battambang and Pailin Provinces: Cambodia is home to a wide array of rare plants and wildlife, including several critically endangered species. We commissioned a comprehensive biodiversity survey in collaboration with the non-profit organization Fauna & Flora and the Cambodian Ministry of Environment that was recently released and can be found here.

The survey documented a diverse array of invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals, highlighting the ecological importance of this area. It also confirmed the presence of several endangered and critically endangered species such as Sunda pangolin and the Asian elephant.

The findings underscore the rich biodiversity within Samlout, a vital component of Cambodia's protected area network, and provide vital information for shaping policy decisions and management practices to utilize and protect these resources sustainably, ensuring their long-term preservation.
